LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Thirty-two people were charged after a multi-state, four-year-long investigation into biker gangs in several states, including Nevada. Twenty-five of those people were arrested Thursday during what police are calling "Operation: Pure Luck."

Las Vegas Metro Police say the name came about when the opportunity to investigate The Vagos outlaw motorcycle gang unexpectedly presented itself in 2009. Four years later, multiple state and federal law enforcement agencies joined forces to serve search warrants and make dozens of arrests.

Many of the suspects are from the Las Vegas area, but spin-off investigations led to cities in California, Utah, Arizona, Texas, New York and Hawaii.

The investigation required undercover infiltration of at least five motorcycle gangs or supporters of motorcycle gangs with histories of drug trafficking, violent behavior and criminal activity.

"Numerous undercover operatives and confidential informants infiltrated multiple groups on multiple occasions," said Metro's Assistant Sheriff Greg McCurdy at a media conference Thursday afternoon. "These groups are The Vagos, The Wicked Riders, Green Machine, The Bandidos and The Chosen Few.

"We've had a lot of instances when these motorcycle gangs have wreaked havoc in our neighborhood. So when this opportunity presented itself, we made the decision to move forward," McCurdy said.

The charges for those arrested include federal and state violations, including firearms, narcotics, conspiracy to interfere with commerce by extortion, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, theft, obtaining money under false pretenses with gang enhancements and battery with substantial bodily harm.

Officers seized 43 guns, 7.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 161 grams of cocaine, more than 2,000 prescription pills and about $8,100 in cash.

Police say at least seven more suspects indicted on similar charges will be arrested soon, along with the possibility of more arrests.
