Vegas gas prices higher than a year ago

Posted: Updated:

The dog days of summer can be applied to the feast or famine nature of Las Vegas gas prices.

AAA's Fuel Gauge Report showed the average price of regular unleaded at $3.63 a gallon Monday. This is a jump of 10 cents from the previous week.

The current price of gas is a far cry from the $3.47 average that many were enjoying a month ago.

The current price is also more expensive than the $3.56 that was reported a year ago.

A fuel price analyst says price levels are not quite consistent among regions in the country.

"Relief continues to show up at pumps in the Great Lakes, while the opposite trend has started in California," said Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "Gasoline prices are certainly a bit wacky right now across the country with prices moving in difference directions, but from what we saw in the last few days with oil prices, I'm hopeful that most areas of the United States will see new or continued relief for at least the first half of this week, with some areas seeing a continued drop for most of this week."
