LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas fire investigators have determined a three-alarm fire at the Encantada apartments on June 16 was a result of arson, and an arrest has been made.

Las Vegas man Stephan J. Tyson, 50, has been charged with one count of arson in the first degree and two counts of attempted murder. He is being held in the Clark County Detention Center.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue investigators said they had been looking for Tyson several days after it was determined he was a suspect. LVFR investigators were notified late Friday he was at CCDC, booked on unrelated charges. Police said Tyson does not live at the apartment complex.

Fire investigators believe Tyson set the fire in the second-story apartment when two people were in the back bedroom. After he allegedly set the fire, he left.

The people in the bedroom then heard the smoke alarm and found the apartment full of fire, according to investigators. The two jumped from the bedroom window to escape the flames. Both were taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries and slight smoke inhalation. They both were treated and released later that day.

The fire caused an estimated $350,000 damage and displaced nearly 100 people.
