LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper is being credited with saving four teenagers from a house fire.

The fire broke out just after 2 p.m. on Thursday on Tuffer Lane in Las Vegas, near Craig and Alexander roads.

According to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, an NHP trooper spotted the fire and banged on the front door, getting the four teens, ages 16 to 19, to safety.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue's Tim Szymanski said it appears the fire started on the roadway and the wind blew it across nearby brush to the side of the house. The fire then burned up the side of the house and into the attic.

Fire investigators said that the house is a total loss, with the damage estimated at $200,000. Five people were displaced by the fire.
