LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A judge set a trial for early 2014 for a couple accused of killing a Las Vegas taxi driver.
Christopher and Georgene Ross appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court for a preliminary hearing.
The couple is accused of killing 54-year-old taxi driver Keith Goldberg. Goldberg went missing in January 2012, prompting a massive search.
A judge on Wednesday denied a defense motion to try the couple separately but held off on deciding whether to exclude text messages and phone records as evidence.
Members of Goldberg's family who flew out from the east coast were present for Wednesday's proceedings.
A judge set a trial date for some time in March 2014.
According to authorities, Georgene Ross and Goldberg were romantically involved. Goldberg, though, would clash with Georgene Ross' husband with whom she became estranged.
Police said, in an arrest report, Goldberg's relationship with Georgene Ross had soured in the months leading up to his disappearance.
In the report, Goldberg was said to have had gotten into a fight with Christopher Ross on the day he was last seen alive. Police also said in the report that Georgene Ross was present during the quarrel.
Since the fight, both denied seeing Goldberg. Georgene Ross, in an arrest report, claimed she was asked by Goldberg to call-in sick for him to his work Lucky Cab.
Police found Goldberg's vehicle abandoned on Feb. 10, 10 days after he was last seen, according to the arrest report.
In April 2012, while Goldberg remained missing, the couple was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection to the cab driver's presumed death.
It wasn't until this past April that search crews tracked down Goldberg's body. Red Rock Search and Rescue found the body on Northshore Road in Lake Mead State Park.
Goldberg's family said Wednesday was the first time they saw the suspects in the case since his body was located.
The search company was required to get liability insurance to get access to search the area. That process, according to Red Rock Search and Rescue, took six months.
The family said it was planning Thursday to tour with search crews the location where Keith Goldberg was found.
