PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Workers at the Arizona Humane Society got a surprise Tuesday morning when someone dropped off two baby bobcats.

The animals were left in the society's admissions department at its Sunnyslope location, according to AHS spokeswoman Bretta Nelson.

Nelson said staffers immediately called Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center since the society is not equipped to handle such animals.

The bobcats appeared to be about 9 weeks old, Nelson said.

Nelson reminds people who encounter a wild animal who appears to be orphaned to observe that animal for a few days. Many times their mothers will leave their young to find food but will often return for them, Nelson said.
