LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Travelers on their way home from Las Vegas after the Memorial Day weekend experienced long delays.

For those leaving the Strip for California, it took about two hours to get to Primm, which is a 40-mile drive or so.

Many decided to wait in Primm for the rush to pass, to no avail.

"We've been here about two and a half hours. Just trying to wait for it to die down a little bit, but it hasn't," Eric Richards from San Diego said.

"It was horrible, so what happened was we came to the outlets to shop. We thought it would get better but it didn't," Felicia Kuo from Orange County said.

Travelers said it was going to be a long night and a long day back at work Tuesday.

It was a different experience for those headed from California to Las Vegas though. They said it was smooth sailing the majority of the way.
