Driver dead after hitting wall ID'd

Posted: Updated:

The Clark County Coroner's office released the name of a 72-year-old driver who died after drifting in the opposite lanes of traffic and hitting a wall in northeast Las Vegas.

The cause of death, though, was pending for Frank E. Garcia, who died on Monday.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, the incident happened on Walnut Drive near Owens Avenue just after 11 a.m. Monday.

Police said the driver was headed southbound when his vehicle drifted to the righthand curb, drifted into the northbound lanes and struck a brick wall.

The driver was taken to North Vista Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Authorities did not confirm, though, if he died from injuries in the crash or from prior medical conditions.

There were no other injuries reported.
