LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

University of Nevada, Las Vegas men's basketball coach Dave Rice confirmed Sunday to FOX5 freshman guard Katin Reinhardt will be transferring from the school.

According to Rice, Reinhardt and his father, Ernie, said they were concerned about minutes available at the point guard position this coming season.

Per Rice, the Reinhardts felt Katin's best shot at the NBA is at PG.

Katin Reinhardt averaged 10.1 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game in his first and only Rebel season.

In a phone interview with FOX5's Jon Castagnino, Rice said he is "very excited" about the future of the Runnin' Rebel program.

Reinhardt's transfer marks the second such move by a Runnin' Rebels player in recent months. Forward Mike Moser elected to transfer to University of Oregon.
