LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Nevada Highway Patrol officer and the driver of another car were taken to a local hospital after a crash on Interstate 15 early Sunday morning.
The crash happened about 3:10 a.m. near the Charleston Boulevard exit on the northbound side of the highway.
Trooper Loy Hixson, spokesman for the NHP, said a trooper was investigating a single-vehicle crash near the exit ramp. He said a second trooper had responded to the scene to assist the first, and another vehicle hit the back of his cruiser. He said the crash slammed both vehicles into the first trooper's cruiser. He said one of the cruisers and the other car ended up in the middle of I-15.
One of the troopers and the driver of the second car were taken to UMC and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Hixson said.
Hixson said the 35-year-old driver of the car was arrested and may be charged with driving under the influence.
