LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Highway 95 has reopened to traffic in both directions between Interstate 15 and Las Vegas Boulevard following a closure due to the discovery of a suspicious device on Wednesday afternoon.

Loy Hixson, of the Nevada Highway Patrol, said the cylinder-shaped device was found on the shoulder of the highway near the Casino Center Boulevard. He said officials treated the object as a threat to the public. It has since been rendered safe.

The object will now be taken to a lab in order to determine what it is.
