HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

A panel is set to review Friday the facts surrounding the Henderson police shooting of an armed man who was suspected of assaulting his ex-girlfriend last November.

The Police Fatality Fact-finding Review in the death of Justin Hoey was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., Clark County announced.

The panel review will take place at the Clark County Government Center Commission Chambers in downtown Las Vegas.

According to police, Hoey was armed and suspected of assaulting his ex-girlfriend when he was shot by police following a two-hour standoff.

Negotiations failed for a peaceful surrender during the incident on St. Rose Parkway and Eastern Avenue in the early morning of Nov. 7.

A woman called dispatchers the night before, reporting that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend at a gas station parking lot at Eastern and Serene avenues.

Officers were able to make contact 15 minutes later with Hoey, who was walking in the middle of St. Rose, according to police.

Hoey attempted to flee but fell into a drainage ditch, where he would be confronted by officers for at least two hours.

A SWAT team was called to the scene during the negotiations.

Police said Hoey was threatening to kill himself, pointing the gun to his head. As Hoey pointed the firearm at police, authorities said, officers opened fire on him.

Hoey died at the scene.

The county said veteran criminal defense attorneys Linda Norvell-Marquis and Terrence Jackson will serve as panel chair and ombudsmen, respectively.

The review is scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m. at the Clark County Government Center Commission Chambers. The proceeding will also air on Clark County Television and at this link.
