LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A Las Vegas attorney entered a guilty plea Wednesday in connection to a mortgage scheme that resulted in the bilking of about $3.6 million from home buyers.

Stanley Walton, 54, pleaded to one count of conspiracy to commit bank, mail and wire fraud related to a scheme that took place between 2004 and 2007, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Bogden.

Bogden's office said the scheme involved obtaining residential mortgages in order to receive proceeds from them for personal use.

In a memo detailing the plea, Walton and others fraudulently purchased a total of nine homes in the Las Vegas valley.

Walton is slated to be sentenced on August 20. He face up to 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine, Bogden's office said.
