Authorities released the name of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver.
According to the Clark County Coroner's office, Herbert Towns Parker, 60, died of multiple blunt force injuries as a result of the accident on Saturday.
Las Vegas Metro police said Parker attempted to cross Jones Boulevard near Saddle Avenue at about 11 p.m. when he was struck by a Nissan Exterra.
The sport-utility vehicle drove away from the scene without stopping, police said.
Parker was taken to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, Metro said.
On Monday, police said 33-year-old Elizabeth Meza turned herself in as the suspect in the accident. Meza was charged with failure of duty to stop at the scene of an accident and failure to yield to a pedestrian.
Metro said Parker's death marked the 42nd traffic-related fatality this year in its jurisdiction.
