LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Law enforcement officers are slated to crack down on traffic violators on highways throughout the Las Vegas area as of a so-called "saturation event" on Wednesday.

Nevada Highway Patrol said its troopers will be joined by officers from Las Vegas Metro, North Las Vegas and Henderson police departments for the enforcement event.

NHP said officers will focus on an area of U.S. 95 from Interstate 15 to Lake Mead Boulevard and I-15 from Lake Mead to Russell Road.

According to NHP, officers will pay particular attention to drivers who speed, follow too closely, make unsafe lane changes or use cell phones while driving.

The event Wednesday is a follow-up to a similar enforcement event that took place last month.

NHP also organized a joint news conference Tuesday with the other involved departments to lay out plans of the event.
