Tourists enjoy Vegas heat

Posted: Updated:
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

While some of the country is still under freeze warnings and even having ice waves take over neighborhoods, travelers in Las Vegas say they couldn't have picked a better time to visit.

Monday brought southern Nevada's first triple-digit temperature of the year.

Travelers said it's a welcome break from home.

"There was still snow on the ground and it was about 15 degrees Celsius. That's not warm," Melissa Mazerolle from Alberta, Canada, said.

Kelly Kevra and fiancé Mark Brown are visiting from Livonia, MI, where they say it's been in the 30s.

"We just found out they're under a freeze warning. Telling everybody to cover their plants and flowers because they got three inches of snow yesterday," Kevra said.

Travelers said they only wish they could pack up the Vegas heat and bring it home with them.

"I'm ready to get my summer clothes out, but nope. It's going to be back to the sweaters when I get home," Kevra said.
