The Clark County Coroner's office confirmed Monday the identity of a 17-year-old who died in a wreck in North Las Vegas over the weekend.
Jahlonn Williams was the person who died in the incident that happened early Sunday morning, authorities said.
According to North Las Vegas police, an initial investigation showed a vehicle driven by Douglas Bruce, 18, ran a stop sign at Washburn Road and Goldfield Street just before 1 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators said Bruce's Saturn struck a Toyota occupied by Williams and a 13-year-old girl.
The collision caused the girl to be ejected from the vehicle while trapping Williams inside, police said.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene while the girl was taken to University Medical Center in extremely critical condition, according to police.
Bruce, who sustained minor injuries in the incident, was arrested on charges including failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to use due care, no insurance and no registration.
Police said Bruce could face additional charges at the conclusion of this investigation.
Police also said alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in this crash.
NLVPD noted this as the sixth traffic-related fatal accident in the city this year.
