A pedestrian is dead after a hit-and-run collision that occurred Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
On Jones Boulevard at the intersection of Saddle Avenue, witness statements indicate that a Nissan Exterra was traveling south on Jones Boulevard approaching the intersection of Saddle Avenue.
The pedestrian was crossing Jones Boulevard eastbound from the west curb towards the east curb. Upon entering the middle southbound travel lane of Jones Boulevard, the front left side of the Nissan struck the pedestrian. The person was thrown forward coming to a rest in the inside south travel lane of Jones Boulevard.
The person was taken to UMC Trauma by ambulance from the scene and was pronounced dead by medical personnel an hour and a half later.
The Exterra drove away from the scene without stopping. The Nissan was recovered a short time after near the south intersection of Jones Boulevard and Flamingo Road. This is the 42nd traffic related fatality in Las Vegas Metro Police Department's jurisdiction for 2013.
This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section. Police are urging people to call-in with any details they might have about this accident.
