Police say a man died Thursday night while running across 32nd Street near Cambridge.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson said three people were running across the street in the unmarked intersection about 8:40 p.m. when a vehicle slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting them but collided with the third person.
The 48-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he died.
The two other pedestrians left the scene before police arrived.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene. Police said there were no indications that she was impaired.
