LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

It's Teacher Appreciation Week, and the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce took the opportunity to honor one of the school district's most effective teachers.

Lucille Rogers Elementary School teacher Maggie Reardon on Wednesday was honored during a luncheon about school reform hosted by Elaine Wynn.

Reardon was given a plaque, cash gift and a basket full of supplies donated by Office Depot.

Reardon was recognized for bringing up the standardized tests results of her fourth-grade students, with an emphasis on reading scores.
