Elder Guerrero and Mayweather draw attention at weigh-in

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

An estimated crowd of 5,000 fight fans gathered inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena for Friday's weigh-in of welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather and challenger Robert Guerrero.

Both Mayweather and the underdog Guerrero made weight at 146 and 147 lbs. respectively.

Mayweather's undefeated record and welterweight title will be on the line Saturday night when the two go toe-to-toe.

"It's all about Mayweather. It's all about The Money Team, so you know we'll be representing," said fan Co'chiese Sanders.

Fight weekends in Vegas continuously bring out couples like Sanders and his wife Cassie Sanders.

Visiting from Florida, the two were married in Las Vegas Thursday.

They'll be at Saturday's fight. In the meantime, they're doing what the local economy appreciates.

They laughed when they told FOX5, "We're about broke."

Star gazing is also a norm on fight weekends. A Los Angeles Laker was one of the 5,000 in the weigh-in crowd.

"When Floyd fights, it's like a championship game. It's like the finale of Dancing With the Stars," said Laker Metta World Peace.

The dancing will happen Saturday night, but there's certainly no world peace between these two after comments made during Wednesday's press conference.

"You like this guy? Woman beater!" said Ruben Guerrero, Robert's father, toward Mayweather Wednesday. "You must've learned that from his dad. Woman beater! Baby, we're gonna beat that woman beater!"

Ruben Guerrero was alluding to Mayweather's 2012 jail sentence for domestic violence.

At the weigh-in, it was the fighters' fathers who drew the most attention, jawing at each other.

Guerrero's family believes Robert will be the one to settle the score Saturday.

"He's done his homework, and he's prepared himself," said Candy Guerrero, Robert Guerrero's uncle. "He does what he has to do, and when you've got the heart to win, you will win."

On March 28, Robert Guerrero was arrested for attempting to bring an unloaded handgun onto a flight bound for Las Vegas.

Robert Guerrero will appear in court for gun charges May 14.
