Las Vegas officer relieved of duty in November shooting

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A Las Vegas police officer involved in a shooting at Hollywood Park last year was relieved of duty last week, according to a spokesman.

Investigators said on Nov. 11, 2012, Officer Jacquar Roston, 36, responded to the park after a woman called for help. They said the woman claimed her ex-boyfriend had hit her and damaged her vehicle. They said that when Roston arrived at the park, the woman and her ex were inside a car. They said Roston removed the woman from the car and eventually shot her ex-boyfriend in the leg.

Roston, who has worked at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since April 2009, was placed on administrative while the shooting was investigated, police said.

A spokesman told FOX5 on Tuesday that Roston relieved of duty with pay some time last week. They said Roston will also go through a pre-termination board hearing, which will determine his future with the department. A date for that hearing was not immediately released.

The person who was shot suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
