LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man suspected in a woman's stabbing death was wounded late Monday night during a police-involved shooting with Las Vegas Metro officers.

Nathan Benson, 27, was shot twice by Metro officers on Rainbow Boulevard near Alta Drive.

Neighbors called police after claiming to see Benson in the area, according to police.

After patrolling the area, police found Benson walking down Rainbow with a knife. Police told FOX5 they asked Benson to surrender, but he did not. That is when shots were fired.

Benson was taken a local hospital in critical condition.

Homicide detectives believe Benson fatally stabbed 44-year-old Shanna Ralston in front of her home early Sunday morning.

Benson's mother lived inside Ralston's home, and he was visiting her at the time of the attack.
