LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue arson investigators have arrested 53-year-old Richard Arlen Jones on one count of first degree arson in connection to the fire at Cedar Village Apartments Saturday morning.

According to police, neighbors overheard a domestic dispute between Jones and his wife before seeing flames. Jones' wife alleges he set fire to furniture that was stacked outside the front door. The fire then spread, involving four apartments. Neighbors were unable to control the flames with fire extinguishers.

Fire officials say heavy flames were showing on the outside of the apartment building upon arrival. All 24 units of the building were evacuated. The main portion of the fire was in front of four apartments that were situated in the center of the building. Firefighters say the fire was under control within five minutes.

Building damage is estimated at $100,000. Two of the units were occupied with one person each, the other two were vacant. The two people are displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Jones is being held at Clark County Detention Center.
