LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The family of a murdered cab driver may finally get some closure more than a year after his disappearance.

Red Rock Search and Rescue says they found Keith Goldberg's Body on Northshore Road in the Lake Mead State Park.

Goldberg's former girlfriend, Georgene "Cookie" Ross and her then-estranged husband, Christopher Ross are behind bars accused of murdering Goldberg in January 2012. Both were uncooperative with police, refusing to reveal the location of the body.

Red Rock Search and Rescue's search spanned more than 100 square miles of desert. The hundreds of hours they spent looking for Keith Goldberg paid off when they found his body in the desert two weeks ago. David Cummings, commander of the team says it took six months to get liability insurance that would grant them access to search the area.

Once they got the green light, it only took two hours to find what they believed to be Goldberg's body. Cummings and Goldberg's family say the coroner's office confirms that assumption.

"I literally felt like a ton of brick was lifted off my shoulders. It was the biggest relief," Cummings said.

Jodi Goldberg, Keith's sister says the discovery of her brother's body is bittersweet. "It's like going through the grieving process all over again," she said in a phone interview. She admits giving up hope on finding her brother, but says she couldn't be more grateful that Red Rock Search and Rescue stayed dedicated.

"If it weren't for them, (Keith) would have never been found," Goldberg said.

Jodi Goldberg says it will take up to three months for them to get her brother's remains from the coroner's office. After that, they'll start planning his funeral service in New Jersey.

She says the family is happy they finally get to lay her brother to rest and start the healing process.
