Cat missing in Arizona turns up in Wisconsin

Posted: Updated:

A tiny, grain-sized microchip has helped reunite a cat found on the doorsteps of a central Wisconsin animal shelter with his owner who lives nearly 1,800 miles away.

South Wood County Humane Society employees say they found the 10-year-old cat on their doorstep Monday. There was no tag, no note, nothing to indicate the owner of the Siamese cat. WSAW-TV  says workers scanned the animal for a microchip and discovered it had been inserted by a clinic in Tucson, Ariz.

Employees contacted the owner and found she had all but given up hope of finding Ace, who had disappeared 10 months ago. Shelter officials say they're puzzled as to how Ace made it from Arizona to Wisconsin. But, because of that microchip, Ace will be flying home to be reunited with his owner.
