Schools across the state are participating in Nevada Moves Day.
Organizers are encouraging parents to walk or bike with their kids to school today.
They say the event is designed to help people recognize the benefits of living in walkable communities, increased physical activity and reduced traffic congestion.
Participating schools will also use the event to highlight pedestrian safety.
C. T. Sewell Elementary School celebrated Nevada Moves Day with a special ceremony and practical safety reminders for parents and students.
This is the fourth year for Nevada Moves Day; the Department of Transportation sponsors the event.
