LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas firefighters responded to the Willows at Town Center Apartments at Echelon Point Drive near North Durango Drive and Bruce Woodbury Beltway, around 9 p.m. Friday.

Dispatchers received numerous calls that thick, black smoke was coming out of an upstairs window of an apartment.

When firefighters arrived on scene, heavy flames were coming out of the window. They were told that all the occupants of the apartment were out. Upon entering the structure of a second floor,  two-story wood frame and stucco apartment fire at unit eight firefighters proceeded to attack the fire.

It took them only minutes to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters were able to confine the fire to the one unit. No other apartments were damaged and damage to the involved unit was estimated at $50,000. The apartment sustained significant damage.

Fire investigators determined that a young child was playing with a lighter in one of the two bedrooms and caught the mattress on fire. This fire was ruled accidental.

At least one adult and two children are displaced due to this fire. There were no reported injuries during this incident.
