KINGMAN, AZ (FOX5) -

A northwest Arizona man was arrested after admitting to inappropriately touching his 14-year-old daughter.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff's office, Matthew James McDermott, 36, of Kingman, was booked on two counts of sexual abuse.

Staffers at an after school program contacted authorities after a student told them of the abuse, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies said the girl told them she had been inappropriately touched by her dad on two separate occasions this week at their home.

The sheriff's office said deputies made contact with McDermott when he responded to their location. McDermott was detained and taken to the sheriff's office, where he admitted to the abuse, deputies said.

McDermott was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
