LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Once a doctor, always a doctor. Nevada Rep. Joe Heck is being recognized for jumping into action when a passenger fell ill on his latest flight back to Las Vegas from Washington, DC.

During the flight, a request for medical help was announced over the plane's intercom. Heck, an osteopathic physician and emergency medicine practitioner, responded.

Heck was led to the plane's galley, where a young woman was complaining of lightheadedness and was in fear of fainting.

Heck determined her condition did not pose a serious threat that would require an emergency landing. Heck monitored the woman's condition until the plane made a safe landing at McCarran Airport.
