Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, U.S. Rep. Dina Titus and other state and local leaders will be on hand Saturday as the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada opens its new downtown facility.
The Robert L. Forbuss Building is a freestanding, multi-million dollar facility which will house the 20-year-old resource for the valley's LGBTQ community.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and will include brief presentations from dignitaries before a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event is free and open to the public. There will be an open house until 4 p.m.
The building is located at 401 S. Maryland Pkwy.
Purchased in 2011, the Robert L. Forbuss Building is 16,000 square feet situated on 1.1 acres of land in downtown Las Vegas. It includes a 4,000-square-foot courtyard with a basketball court, an expansive library, cyber center and the Bronze Café, among other amenities.
