Posted: Updated:

A fire that started outside a Henderson residence swept to the inside of a home Friday.

Henderson Fire Department reported the blaze about 12:30 p.m. on Taylor Street, near the intersection of Lake Mead Parkway and N. Boulder Highway.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered heavy fire showing from the rear of the residence. Multiple sheds and items were on fire. The fire quickly spread throughout the home but firefighters knocked it down quickly.

An investigation revealed the fire was started by inappropriately discarded smoking items. There were no injuries and the American Red Cross is assisting with lodging for two adults and two dogs.

The damage is estimated at $125,000.
