LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police are expected to focus on motorists in the west end of the Las Vegas valley during a sobriety checkpoint Friday.

Las Vegas Metro police planned the checkpoint on Charleston Boulevard, west of Rainbow Boulevard, between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Metro explained the area has a high concentration of traffic accidents, as well as a high number of impaired drivers.

Officers from multiple area commands will be looking for drug and alcohol impaired drivers.

Metro said it hopes to reduce the number of driving under the influence incidents and alcohol-related traffic collisions.
