Driver killed in wrong-way wreck ID'd

HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

A motorist who died in a crash while driving the wrong way on U.S. 95 was identified Wednesday.

The Clark County Coroner's office said Jose Edward Gonzalez, 30, of Riverside, Calif., died in the incident that took place early Tuesday morning.

Nevada Highway Patrol reported the wreck just before 2:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the highway at Auto Show Drive in Henderson.

NHP said the wrong way driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the other driver was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

U.S. 95 southbound was down to one lane at Auto Show Drive following the wreck, but all lanes were reopened just after 7 a.m.
