LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Late Tuesday night in Carson City, a special Nevada legislative panel recommended to expel embattled assemblyman Steven Brooks.

This is the first time this has happened in state history.

The seven-member bipartisan committee voted six to one. The only dissenting vote was from Assemblywoman Dina Neal.

Brooks' expulsion still requires a two-thirds majority vote of the Assembly.

Brooks has twice been arrested in recent months, once for allegedly attacking a family member and obstructing a police officer. On Jan. 19, Brooks was arrested for alleged threats made toward Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick.

Stay tuned to FOX5 for the latest on this developing story.
