Court for big rig driver in $11M cocaine bust

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The driver of an 18-wheel big rig that was hauling more than 284 pounds of cocaine is expected to appear in a Las Vegas court room on Monday.

Rahul Grewal, 52, was slated for his initial 72-hour hearing after his arrest on drug possession on March 22.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, Grewal was stopped by officers on Interstate 15 northbound near Craig Road for a traffic violation.

Officers revealed Grewal was in possession of narcotics and eventually found the large load of drugs, police said.

The search produced cocaine packaged in Hello Kitty and Justin Bieber themed wrapping paper, as photos of the raid revealed. Metro said the total seized product was valued at $10.9 million

Grewal was booked into Clark County Detention Center on charges of trafficking a controlled substance and transporting a controlled substance for sale.

Grewal's hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
