Police say a North Las Vegas teen is facing 23 counts in connection to a rash of home invasions involving senior victims.
According to NLV police, Davon Xavier Lyons, 19, is suspected of three home break-ins that took place between Feb. 11 and March 15. Five victims, ranging in age from 73 to 85 years old, were affected, police said.
"Victims who were walking to their mailbox, or walking their dogs in their neighborhood, where they could see that they were elderly victims," said Officer Chrissie Coon with NLVPD.
Police listed three residences where the alleged break-ins took place:
2100 block of Water Rail, North Las Vegas, NV;
7900 block of Grey Teal Street, North Las Vegas, NV;
8100 block of Wildwood Glen, Las Vegas, NV.
In these incidents, police said, Lyons and a second person followed the elderly victims into their open garage, held them at gunpoint and forced them into their homes.
"Got out of my car and these two guys appeared through the garage door ... one leveled a gun at me," one 73-year-old male victim, who did not wish to be identified, told FOX5.
One suspect kept watch of the victims while the other took jewelry, electronics, money and other items, police said.
Police also said the suspects cut phone lines to keep victims from calling 911.
"Emptied all of the drawers, emptied all of the closets ... my wife's engagement ring and her wedding ring," the victim said.
Those rings were irreplaceable to the victim FOX5 spoke to, because his wife had died just the month before.
"I said to him 'look my wife has only been dead a few weeks, can I have the wedding ring back' ... and he cussed me again and threw it in his bag," the victim told FOX5.
Police were able to arrest Lyons at his North Las Vegas apartment, where they found two stolen firearms, marijuana and packaged drugs for sale.
Lyons was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on three counts of robbery, three counts of first-degree kidnapping and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, among other charges.
Detectives are looking for the second suspect in the case.
Police urge anyone with information on the suspects to contact NLVPD at 702-633-9111 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
