Thursday was emotionally draining for Rebel fans who attended the Scarlet & Gray Party, put on by FOX5 and 98.5 KLUC at Firkin' On Paradise Road, to watch the NCAA Tournament game between Cal and UNLV.
Hundreds of fans filled every empty booth and chair in the pub.
Before the game, energy and expectations were high.
"Definitely not an easy win. I think we're a superior team - we've just got to play our game," said UNLV fan Jeffery Lavgine.
The score was tied 28-28 at halftime, but in the second half UNLV went 11 minutes without a field goal, missing 16 shots in a row.
Down nine at one point, UNLV rallied and trailed by only one with less than a minute to go, but lost 64-61.
Fans at Firkin' were tortured.
"One and done, It's disappointing, especially when you see the talent we have on the team," said fan Christopher Riley.
"There are programs in this country that would kill to be what we have here at UNLV, so I guess that's a positive sign," said KLUC's Chet Buchanan.
