It was a historic morning in Sylvester Thursday.
Worth County High School's Bristal Thompson signed a cheerleading scholarship to Mercer University.
She'll cheer competitively and for the Bears' football and basketball teams.
Bristal is the first in school history to ever sign a scholarship for cheerleading- something she takes great pride in.
"I can't describe the excitement and just the pride that I feel in that," she says about being an example for her younger teammates. "I owe a lot to my teammates and a lot to my coach. I'm just so thankful for this opportunity."
Thompson is also her class' valedictorian this year. She's been pre-accepted to Mercer's medical program.
She says she's most excited about cheering at Nationals this year in Daytona Beach and attending her first college football game this fall.
