LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Investigators believe an apartment fire early Wednesday may have started from an air conditioning unit.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue reported the blaze about 3:30 a.m. at the Rancho Verde Apartments near U.S. 95 and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

According to officials, smoke had been showing from an apartment building, where residents there evacuated.

Crews had the fire out in less than five minutes, LVFR said.

A resident in a downstairs unit, whom officials said was in the process of moving out, was forced out by the fire.

There were no other displacements reported.

Fire officials believe the cause was accidental and electrical in nature. Damage was estimated at $40,000.
