CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A judge sentenced a smiling TJ Lane to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of three students in Chardon.

"Remorse is lacking," the judge said.

The Chardon gunman came to court wearing a white t-shirt with the word 'KILLER' written with black magic marker. He then flipped his middle finger to the courtroom, and mouthed the words that go along with the foul gesture. Lane also smiled and smirked as emotional family members of the young men killed spoke to the court.

"You are lucky there are so many police in this room," said the mother of paralyzed student Nick Walczak. "You can smile all you want. You are evil."

"I want him to feel my anger towards him," said the mother of Daniel Parmertor, whom was killed in the shooting. "Danny was a good boy, a son I was proud of. Danny was my baby."

"I am in pain every minute of every day. I am so mad. I cry everyday," she said.

"You don't deserve to be called human," Parmertor's mother said to Lane. "You are a monster. You are a weak, pathetic, vile coward."

Late last month, Lane changed his plea, and pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of felonious assault all with firearms specifications. Lane had previously pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

On Feb. 27, 2012, Lane entered the cafeteria at Chardon High School and opened fire.

17-year-old Russell King, Jr., 16-year-old Daniel Parmertor and 16-year-old Demetrius Hewlin were killed in the shooting. 17-year-old Nick Walczak remains paralyzed from the waist down. 18-year-old Joy Rickers and a 6th, unidentified victim were treated and released from the hospital.

Lane was recorded in a police cruiser after he was picked up and read his rights saying, "I shot people."  An officer asked why and he responded "I don't know."

Lane could not be sentenced to death. He was under the age of 18 at the time of the deadly shooting, and turned 18 on Sept. 19 of last year.
