WOODLAND, WA (KPTV) -

Police have released surveillance video that shows a man stealing a woman's purse from the Woodland Walmart.

Investigators said the thief was so smooth that it appeared he had stolen many times before.

On March 3, Jill Withrow was grocery shopping inside the store when she turned her back on her shopping cart for just a moment.

"I kind of felt a presence go by," said Withrow. "I happened to turn around real quick and I turned around and noticed my wallet was gone."

Security cameras caught the suspected thief grab her purse out of the shopping cart and walk away.Withrow tried to stop the man, who ran out of the store and disappeared into the parking lot.

"I would say just be aware of people who are around you because I had no idea he was there," she said.

Withrow said her purse contained about $100 in cash, her credit cards and identification. Police said the man walked into the Walmart with a woman and a young boy but went off on his own once they were inside.

Woodland police are asking anyone who may have information about this crime or who recognize the male suspect or the woman who was with him to contact Officer Brent Murray or Sgt. RobbLipp at 360-225-6965.
