LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Six people were rushed to the hospital after a hit-and-run leads to a rollover accident.

The accident occurred on Valley View Boulevard near the entrance of the Springs Preserve just before 3:30 p.m.

Police say the incident started when a 16-year-old driver was exiting the Toys R' Us off Meadows Lane. According to Metro Detectives, the driver stopped for an unknown reason, then backed into the car behind him and took off.

The female driver of the other vehicle followed the teenage driver toward the springs preserve. Detectives say that's when he failed to stop at the light on Valley View, then drove through the light, hitting a dip in the road.

Police say the teen lost control of the vehicle before it crashed through a steel gate and flipped upside down. The driver and five passengers were taken to the hospital. The four children in the car, ages ranging from 4 to 15 years old, have life threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation, however police do not believe drugs and alcohol were a factor in the crash.
