Dan Majerle to take over as GCU head coach

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Grand Canyon University is getting a new coach in Phoenix Suns legend Dan Majerle.

CBS 5 Sports has confirmed that Majerle will take over as head basketball coach of the Lopes.

He'll take over for Russ Pennell who resigned Friday after the Lopes final game of the season.

Pennell took the program to Division 1 and Majerle will take it from there.

A news conference has been scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m.
