Mohave County Sheriff’s Office looking for ‘Posse’ members

Posted: Updated:
KINGMAN, AZ (FOX5) -

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office is looking for a few good citizens to step up and make a difference.

The office is seeking volunteers for its Posse, a team of trained citizens who assist deputies with non-enforcement duties and services.

The volunteer work performed by the team allows deputies to focus more attention on crime prevention. Posse members do not take law enforcement action, carry weapons or make arrests.

Members do, however, receive training in crime prevention, law, driver awareness, patrol procedures and radio communications.

You must be at least 18 years old, have a positive attitude about law enforcement, possess good moral character and have a good driving record.

You cannot have felony convictions.

Additionally, you must be a current U.S. citizen, have a valid Arizona driver's license, pass a background check and pass an oral board.

Those interested are encouraged to pick up an application at the sheriff's office in Kingman at 600 W. Beale St. Applications are also available at the Lake Havasu City Substation at 3500 Highway 95 and the Mohave Valley Substation, 9880 Vanderslice Rd.
