A woman charged with stabbing the mother of her boyfriend several times is expected to be in a Las Vegas court room on Friday.
Chelsea Clark, 20, is charged with attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
Clark's preliminary hearing was scheduled for 7:30 a.m. in Las Vegas Justice Court.
Police said the incident occurred Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at an apartment in the 200 block of Mission Newport Lane, near Meadows Lane and Decatur Boulevard.
According to Clark's arrest report, she and her boyfriend, Shawn Witte, had moved in with Shawn Witte's mother, Teresa Witte, just a few days before the alleged attack. Clark and Shawn Witte had relocated from Reno and were seeking employment.
Clark told police that an argument between herself and Teresa Witte broke out on Tuesday over Shawn Witte having been arrested.
A neighbor called police and said a woman could be heard screaming and it sounded as though furniture was being knocked around. When police arrived, they found Teresa Witte covered in blood and attempting to escape from her apartment window.
When police entered the apartment, they found a large kitchen knife in a back bedroom, large volumes of blood and blood stains on the walls and floors throughout the unit.
Teresa Witte was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition. A trauma surgeon told police she had suffered 11 stab wounds and had been bitten twice.
During an interview, Clark told police Teresa Witte had stabbed herself and a fight ensued in which Witte attempted to strangle Clark.
