LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

As of Monday, embattled Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks is no longer an employee of the city of Las Vegas, city officials confirmed.

The city offered the following statement to FOX5:

"Steven Brooks is no longer a city employee. In keeping with standard practice regarding personnel matters, the city is unable to elaborate further on his separation from the organization."

Brooks represents Assembly District No. 19 and is currently barred from the Legislature in Carson City as an investigative committee mulls his future. Brooks worked in Las Vegas' Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department.

Brooks has twice been arrested in recent months, once for allegedly attacking a family member and obstructing a police officer. On Jan. 19, Brooks was arrested for alleged threats made toward Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick.
