Voter registration deadline nears for municipal elections

Posted: Updated:
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

With two mayoral seats on their ballots this year, North Las Vegas and Henderson officials are advising residents not to miss Tuesday's deadline to register to vote in the upcoming municipal elections.

Both cities – and the City of Las Vegas – will register voters at their respective city clerk's offices:

To accommodate those wishing to register, the Las Vegas City Clerk's Office will be open for voter registration from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

The deadline also applies to changes in voter registration. If you have moved since last registering, you must notify the Clark County Election Department by calling 455-VOTE (8683).

All three cities have council seats on the ballot this year, but much of the attention will be on the aforementioned mayoral races.

North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck is trying to fend off a challenge from former state Sen. John Lee, as her city continues to struggle in the post-recession economy.

In Henderson, Mayor Andy Hafen is one of seven contenders for his seat. Hafen has served as mayor since 2009.

Early voting for the April 2 Primary Election begins March 16 and runs through March 29.
