Surprise officer involved in 2-car crash

SURPRISE, AZ (CBS5) -

One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash involving an on-duty Surprise police officer.

Police said the officer was driving on Bell Road approaching Sunrise when the woman suddenly turned in to him. Police said he hit the brakes and her car hit the front of his vehicle before she swerved and crashed into a pole.

She was flown to the hospital with a possible head injury.

Her 8-year-old child, who was also in the vehicle and the officer are both fine.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
