RICHMOND, Va., March 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Dominion (NYSE: D) has nominated Adm. James O. Ellis, Jr. (ret.), to serve on the board, subject to election by the company's shareholders at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

Thomas F. Farrell II, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said:

His leadership in the U.S. Navy and at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, and his outstanding service on other corporate boards add to his unique qualifications."

Adm. Ellis, 65, recently retired as president and chief executive officer of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, where he served from 2005-2012. He retired from active duty in the U.S. Navy in July 2004 as an admiral. During his 39-year naval career, he was commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, based in Nebraska; commander-in-chief of U.S. Naval Forces in Europe; and commander-in-chief of Allied Forces in Southern Europe. Adm. Ellis serves on a number of corporate boards, including those of Lockheed Martin Corporation, Level 3 Communications, Inc., and Inmarsat plc. He was also elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2013. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Navy nuclear power training, the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School and the Navy Fighter Weapons School, he holds master's degrees in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and in aeronautical systems from the University of West Florida.
